Law Enforcement Division

Law enforcement in Hardy County - except in the towns of Moorefield and Wardensville which have their own police departments - is a responsibility of the Office of the Sheriff.

The Sheriff and eight sworn Deputy Sheriffs conduct criminal investigations, patrol 472 miles of state maintained roads in the county, enforce traffic laws and regulations, investigate accidents, conduct criminal investigations, apprehend and transport fugitives from justice, take into custody  individuals for whom arrest warrants have been issued, and transport prisoners between the county seat and the Regional Jail at Augusta. One Deputy works in the Hardy County School system.

The Hardy County Sheriff's Department also assists officers from other law enforcement agencies, including the State Police, the Department of Natural Resources, and the police departments in Moorefield and Wardensville, WV.
